Sinhagad is one of the most popular forts of the sahyadris, being very close to pune city and also being very easy to climb.It is also known as 'Kudhana'.Standing at a height of 4320' it provides a fantastic view of the pune city and the lakes around and also rajgad and torna. From pune, reach atkarwadi which is accessible by plenty of buses and proceed towards the fort by a wide path.The path winds up the sides of the fort and we reach the donje darwaja.The fort is also accessible by road.There is much to see and do on this fort.There is a doordarshan transmitting centre on the top also.The main places to visit on the fort are lokmanya tilak's bunglow,tanaji's samadhi, the devtaka - a tank containing very sweet water,the temple of amruteshwar bhairav and the famous tanaji kada.One must try the jhunka bhakar and kanda bhaji  here.This fort is a famous place for trippers as well as trekkers . It has a lot of history associated with it and witnessed many battles.On a whole, an enjoyable outing near pune.........
