Kalsubai,at the height of 5400' is the highest peak of maharashtra.It
is a good place to trek to and provides on of the finest views you can get.
We reach Igatpuri a night before the trek and catch the early
morning bus to Pune.We alight at Bari village from which the route starts.Going on this path we reach a temple in half
an hour or less.After this the route gets steeper.There are two ladders fixed on the steepest portions before we come
to a well which has potable water.After this lies the final hump like rocky top of Kalsubai. There is a ladder and two chains
placed at different places which can be used to go to the top.Atop there is a small temple of the goddess Kalsubai.The view
is really great.One can see Ghanchakkar,Katrabai,Ratangad and Khutta pinnacle along with the Bhandardara lake to the south;
Alang,Kulang,Madan to the west and Aundha,Patta,Bitangad to the northeast.We head back downwards after spending three hours
on the top which is a knee breaking story really.
